Well I have installed the second battery tray I purchased from Dave at Japan 4X4.

A perfect fit Thanks Dave..

The question is What and how have you 12volt dual battery guys used to set em up. Battery types and fittings.
Anything special ?? etc.
Any pic's of your installs??

Regards

no special fittings required, however you "should" use matched pairs of batteries, IE same type, model, age. Don't just throw in any old batt while leaving the old one the same. My suggestion is get two brand new. There have been a number of discussions about what are good batts, etc... a lot of guys here swear by SLA. Iv never had any problem with them, and am running a pair of 990CCA SLAs in my BJ60 at the moment. However Optima is what a lot of people are swearing about right now, im not sure how much of it's hype and how much of its legit, but I picked up a pair of big yellow tops for my Bj74, so lets give-em a year or so and see how they do!

PS just make sure you hook the batts up in parallel, and not series, you don't want to pump 24 volt through a 12 volt system...

Thanks Walker.
That is what I figured.
I Cheched out those yellow top Optimas $303.00 each here..

lots of $$$$ for a battery.

Regards

Well I did a lot of research on the batteries..
I decided to go with a pair of the Orbital Purple Haze batteries by Exide.
Same technology as the optima.

I installed them and boy do they get this truck going in a hurry.
Cost for batteries just over $450.00 for the pair.

Regards
