I'll be trying the fan soon. Now that I have my underhood AUX fuse block wired, and my new front bumper and winch installed, I know exactly how much clearance I have / need and where i can mount things to. I may also put a larger tranny cooler in with a shrouded temp controlled fan. I still want to also verify the oprating conditions of the factory aux fan.

I'm new to the 100 series. Are you monitoring trans temp with a dedicated sensor and gauge or is there a way to do this on the 100 with an UltraGauge or ScanGaugell?
 
I am doing it with an Android app called Torque and an ODBII BlueTooth adapter. I'm not sure if Trans Temp shows on the scangauge. (It may though.)
 
for $1200 in parts only, I'm not sure how they came up with "best upgrade since lockers". Lockers totally transform your vehicle's capabilities. Still lots of unanswered questions around actual performance gains to justify the costs. Especially given the year of my tranny, I'm gonna leave well enough alone.

I haven't been logging my trans temp consistently, but are we convinced that these swings are "bad"? I see them too, especially in summer heat. Yet here I am with 180K on the stock '00 tranny.
 
Convinced, no. But I have determined that 145 is the normal operating temp. Seeing 180 trans temps seems wrong. It'd be like seeing my coolant which normally sits at 186 jump to 220 under load which would be a problem. The most I have ever seen is 196 in the heart of the summer with the AC on.

I'm sure the trans can take intermittent 180 temps, but if I can keep it cooler, and if I don't overcool it and 'shock' the tranny the the aux fan can only help....

I realize this thread is old but would this product work? I have not used this product but have talked to him and seen the work he does. He appears to put together quality products.

My LX470, build date 07/00, went out at 175,000 in 09/13. Rebuilt in-house by local shop. So far, so good.
 
Good god, my rebuilt transmission is failing 1.5yrs, 10k miles later. It might almost be worth buying another one and keeping this one for parts.

I am sad to join this thread...

My 2001 LC transmission failed, 166,000 miles on it.

Happened while towing a trailer with a car on it, about 5500lbs.
Replaced it with a used junkyard trans from a 98. I'm having issues with o2 sensors now, starting immediately after the replacement, and I'm suspicious that the mechanic messed up my wiring harness, the thread is here in case you are interested: 2001 lc Transmission Failure and P0141 & P0161
 
At some point, I may very well try a custom Level10 valve body for $698.

I have fully built Level10 race transmission in one of my other cars. It has a billet torque converter, Kevlar clutches, higher stall speed and for drag strip punishment. I see they offer valve bodies for a A343F

My 2000 LC transmission just failed at 50,381 miles. I posted the full story in this thread if you're interested. I'll post the production date when I'm able to visit her in the shop in a few days 😭
