I am going to be hosting/guiding a 100 series run in the San Juans this year (my back yard). Please see the thread below for info. It should be a great time for all skill levels. The San Juans are known as the Switzerland of America and deserve that moniker.

We will be camping out side of Ouray and doing daily loops as described. Feel free to join us for a day or a week!

Here is the link. I know there are at least 4-5 active members who live IN Colorado!!! Let's make it official!

Depending on my class schedule I would love to go! It should be early enough in the year so that I do not have to worry about it. Always looking for more great wheeling spots!

Awesome up there! I will be up there for the FJ Summit week after next, 4th year in a row. Its nice to get out of the Texas heat for a few days. Nothing too technical but the views and hot springs are amazing!

Good luck at the FJ summit. Last I heard several of the passes are still closed, they got a hella lot of snow this year.

That is about the time I plan to be out in the four corners area. I will be in touch, and will let you know. Thanks.

Just got back from spending 4th of July weekend in Telluride. First time there and I know not the last. Awesome scenry, waterfalls everywhere. I would drive out again from So. Cal but your dates are at the begining of our fall semester.

Drove imogene pass from Telluride and from Ouray. Top is not open yet, but the snow is melting fast. Ophir pass is open all the way. Pictures below are of snow banks in Ophir pass, Telluride valley from Imogene and Tomboy mine area.

Have a great time!

I spent a week there two years ago around this time....beautiful scenery. Would like to go back in my 100 series (FJC last time) but want to do a run up through Maine next I think. :)

I spoke to a guy in Ouray this morning who said that they are working as hard as they can to get Imogene open all the way over the pass. 12 foot high walls of snow up to the lookout area...not much to see if you are looking at a wall of snow. Black Bear is an awesome run but not sure it will be open this year.

Sounds like the rafting is good up there this year...

Thanks for the update! The rafting/Kayaking has been awesome this spring. Many creeks were runnable that usually aren't. Would love to do Imogene with a 12' snow canyon. We have many good alternatives if Blackbear Isn't open.

Thanks for the pics 3rd

That sounds like a great trip, the San Juan mountains are amazing. If I wasn't in Australia I would have loved to join in. Have a great time.

BTW, Jon, I like your new Tag line. That was a funny thread.

PM Sent, we're game!! Where you thinking about camping?

PM Received. Look forward to seeing everyone there! Camping info in the original thread.

The true count doesn't count until show-up in Ouray. I thought there would be 30 100's in Moab. ;-)

I hope more show up than expected. I will say that a great day is to run Black Bear from Ouray to Telluride for lunch at the Bistro on the patio or Blue Dog for some cold beer and pizza. From there you can take Imogene back to Ouray. Make sure to hit one of the local hot springs, the water is Awesome. Also need to hit up The Outlaw in Ouray for a great steak, tell Paul hello....he and his wife own/run the place, he will be slinging drinks from behind the bar.

True. I expect a couple to bail just before hand.

Moving back to trails/events now. Let's keep the planning discussion there.

Just wanted to post one last reminder in case anyone is on the fence. I'm going to head out Thursday afternoon and will be in camp that evening. If I'm not around Friday, make yourself comfortable. I might be wheeling or down at the hot springs in Ouray. See the link in the first post for all the trip details.

See you there. :cheers::beer::flipoff2:

Perfect camping weather, I wish I could make this run.....

Same here. Just didn't work out for me with the work schedule. Too many other people on vacation or at training.
