After calling around to a few places to buy one of these for my own rig after the 3" lift, I got these responses:

  • No longer available from us.
  • We're sold out and we should have some in the next month or so... I asked; Can you call me when you get more in? No, just check back.
  • Our supplier overseas won't ship anymore to us....I asked; Where did you get them? Not sure but overseas somewhere..
  • NO return call-- x2 sellers
So, I just went ahead and made my own that will always be available and at a reasonable price.

Made from laser cut A572 HSLA steel supplied with 8.8 hardware and 6061 CNC machined aluminum spacers.

Nice looking diff drop. I will not call any vendor out, because I have not tried everyone, but it's hard enough to find a Land Cruiser mechanic, never mind calling "Land Cruiser Specialist" who will not return phone calls and give you the vibe that you are disturbing them with your potential business. I was ready to spend between $10-15K to make my Cruiser how I want it. No one I've talked to yet is interested in what would be about $5,000-$7500 in labor. No one will even call back after taking my name. I hate to do this, but I may have to resort to a Jeep because that is all people in my area seem to know anything about. Good luck to you and your business!

My buddy and I are the only 2 cruiser guys within 170+ miles. I ship 99.9% of my products. Another buddy at the local dealership refers work to me on older cruisers, etc. I can usually source things better than they can.

I was just surprised when I got the responses I did on the diff drop. If I ran my business that way, I'd be out of business. I get inquiries all the time that I have to refer elsewhere, but still reply as soon as I can. Thankfully, my referral list is still pretty dependable.

Sad to hear!

I am going to ask what most would consider a dumb question on this forum, but I came here to learn and will share what I learn if I can get over a few hurdles. What stinks the most is I don't have the physical strength to do the heavy work myself. (Too many ATV and Dirt Bike accidents when I was younger and before children of our own). Thankfully I don't have to depend on my back for my living like my dad did. Anyway. I had only planned to lift my 100 series 1.5-2 inches and I know it's debateable whether a diff drop is needed for that, but I do a lot of highway driving. I have a good amount of frame rust thanks to the calcium chloride and sodium chloride that covers our roads about 4 months a year. I will find out Tuesday if the frame is sound enough to install an OME kit on (or any other recommendations). Is your drop too much for a 2 inch lift, or am I splitting hairs? Your advice is appreciated as you have responded to me already more than those within 300 miles of me will. Thanks in advance!

2" lift and over I highly recommend the drop from the get go . Under 2" is up in the air. I know companies that recommend it for any lift.

IMO, anything that will put the new lift geometry as close to the OEM specs, the better. Any amount of lift will introduce wear and tear on the components and will eventually lead to their premature failure regardless of lift height. The greater the lift.. the faster the breakdown...

My .02...

New design is posted above.

I have 150 of these headed to Australia, Dubai and South Africa. Client wanted more of a "stock look". So, a new design was born.

I'm keeping some for my inventory and shipping out another 30 to cruiser shops around the USA.

Awesome J!
I love reading about your success!

Be happy to help in any way. Tough Dog lifts, rear control arms (upper and lowers) sway links, etc.

Thanks A

J

You will be the first call I make!
