I bought my 1st Toyota an 87 Pickup for $125 it ran but the owner thought it was going to throw a rod. Turned out to be missing and loose bolts on a crankshaft pulley. After it stranded me a couple of times I parked it. I then found a slightly crunched 85 4Runner for sale on the side of the road. I know have parts from the 87 on 3 different yotas. I am going to get my $125 dollars worth out of that thing yet. I am still dismembering it in my garage.

I'm just starting to be weary of this rig's condition. Let's say there are more underlying problems that are being kept from me, where am I then? A dead rig taking of space in the yard and I'm $125+ in the hole.

I live in NC and I piss more money away than that, so let me know where I can buy the truck . That way you won't have to worry about being ripped off and I can have a new project.

If I don't get it by next Saturday, then I will disclose the info on where to find it. Just know that you wont be able to drive it away unless you have 4 new tires, a fuel pump, and some other tools to get it tuned up.

Weary of the price, or wary? (Just messing with you.) :) Could be both I suppose. I'm really interested in whether you end up picking this truck or not. But I don't know how you can go wrong for the price. You could probably get more just parting it out than they are asking.

I've decided I'm gonna get this truck regardless. If it wont run, or has too many problems, I can part it out and probably end up making money.

Now that is a sensible decision. The parts alone are way worth it. Always fun to tinker with a new project :D

I'd be in on that.

Maybe so. If the body's good, I could SAS it and swap in the EFI from my '85 that's quickly becoming beaten up beyond recognition. If it's not so good, I could probably part out alot of it. Probably enough so that I could make up the money from making the trip out to get it.

The body has some surface rust, but nothing cancerous looking from my quick lookover. I'll keep you guys posted, it might be another week or two, $650ish is gonna be dropped to Waggoner5 for the arms this week, and then close to $200 for the 9.00r16 XMLs I am picking up over the next 2 weeks, so that thins my summer savings out pretty quickly.

Bought it, no title though. Fuel pump was about $35, and only took 10 minutes wiht my buddie's help. 1st and 3rd gear are shot, or atleast seem to be, feels like it's shifted into gear, slowly release the clutch and GRRRGGEEERRRIIND. Tailgate is rusted out, but bed is in good shape. Interior cleaned up pretty good. PO had run stopleak in it, and there was a bunch clogging things up causing an overheat, got a prestone flush kit and ran it clear, now doesn't overheat, but still runs a little warm. PCV valve is shot, but my old LC one might fit and if so will be going in. Has an oil leak near the front of the engine, the rad. fan blows it all over, not too bad, but enough for me to worry about. Engine purrs like a kitten after seafoam through the PCV even with the 7y/o gas!!
