Hi guys. I am having an issue lately with the truck having weak starts. Instead of CRANK and Vroom it's Crank and barely ignites then gets up to speed. MY first thoughts would be a fuel pressure regulator type problem, fuel filter or pump? I have no CEL lights (yet). Any thoughts?

By saying CRANK vs Crank, are you implying that the started cranking action is weak? This is before the engine fires? If the cranking is weak, I would suspect the battery first as it's not delivering enough cranking amps. If the cranking is just as strong, then I'd start guessing elsewhere.

TeCKis300,
you are right I should clarify more. It always cranks over just fine. It when it fires. In the morning after sitting all night it usually fires up right away. It after the stop and go trips throughout the day that when it fires it's a weak limp fire if you want to call it that.

So once the motor fires, it turns over with far less vigor? Yes, then I'd suspect it is fueling related. And you're saying it typically is on a hot start? The '06 models have been known to have fuel pump related issues on occasion, though the symptoms typically occur in really hot weather at elevation. I would suspect the fuel pump in this case as well.

Sounds good. I will probably replace the filter and pump.
