Does anyone know if there is a pigtail you can purchase so that you don't have to cut the existing connector off?

Does anyone know where to purchase the male connector that comes off the sub box to the wire harness? The one that fits this female connector.

The more I go down the rabbit hole thinking about built in options for a subwoofer, the more I like your approach with a removable box. Thanks Varun!

My subwoofer was blown and I need a replacement that sounded better than stock, added a substantial amount of bass and if external could be removed to maximize storage area. After looking into it I decided on a 10" subwoofer which meant it wouldnt fit in the stock opening and required an enclosure. One of the main things I wanted to do was make it easy to add/remove so I installed terminals in the rear.

Parts List:

Subwoofer: Amazon product ASIN B073JVXVD8Enclosure: Amazon product ASIN B0013N0UCQTerminals: Amazon.com: 2PCS Speaker Terminal Box Binding Post Dual Rectangular Audio Terminal Cups Copper Wire Cable Connector : Electronics - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C9CCG35/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Speaker Cable & Plugs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LY8ESIH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Overall impressions:
Plenty of bass using the stock amp and it only cost ~$150.

The project end to end took about 3 hours.

  1. Add 4-way terminal to the enclosure. Required some dremelilng but was easy.

  2. Wire the subwoofer to the terminal and screw it into the enclosure.

  3. Take apart drivers rear panel, extend factory wiring. The trickiest part here is that the amp wiring is counterintuitive. BLACK is + and RED is -.

  4. Add 4-way terminal to back to LC

  5. Put panels back together

  6. Wire up and install the enclosure

How has this held up? Thinking about doing it but not sure if I should add a amp or not.

I wonder why I haven’t seen anyone remove the connector and wires from the OEM sub enclosure and just extend them straight into an external sub like this?

Good question. I hadn't thought of it at the time and didn't explore limitations that might exist. 100% worth looking at.

Now that I'm way more experienced on the electrical side I'd even consider other types of connectors that I use everywhere else in the car.

It would have to work…wouldn’t it? Plus, depending on how they are connected to stock sub, you can see how they should probably be hooked up to the same Ohm rated sub…even a larger 10” sub.
