'04 GX shift assembly replacement

Today while trying to shift from 4 to 3, and then to 2, my shifter seems to have broken. I heard a small plastic part fall inside, and now it will not "click" left or right. It shifts from P to 5, will not hold 4, shifts to 3 and 2, and will not hold L. It just flops left and right at the 4/5 and 2/L junction.

I'm assuming I need to replace the shift assembly, and I'd really like to not pay someone a ton of money for a new one and labor if it's easy enough to replace. I can order one on ebay and replace it, assuming it's relatively easy? Anyone do this before? Any tips?

Thank you, that’s very helpful. I’m going to see if the pin is still inside and if I can return it to its location or if I need to make a new pin as that OP did.
