torsion bar orientation

Quick question, I see that they are marked R and L, but does it matter which end goes into the control arm, and which end goes into the adjuster? Also, has anyone noticed that the R and L side bars are clocked differently. Looks like the L side is 5 splines counterclockwise, while the R is 4...
