pinch sensor

2011 LX570. The 2 Pinch Sensors on the liftgate apparently need to be replaced. They line the left and right side of the liftgate. Part #s 84270-60042 and 84270-60022. They are ~$599 EACH online. OUCH! Does anyone know if these can be repaired or simply removed to allow the liftgate to...
