garnishment

One of my factory fender garnishments is beginning to come loose (rear driver). I know they are just "taped" on a long with a couple of screws in the wheel well. My questions are what "tape" should be used? I'd assume something like 3M VHB or trim tape. Also, where should the tape be placed...
