I wasn't going to. Well, at least not this soon.:D But I just couldn't help it! :crybaby:

I decided since I was getting pretty good at replacing headlights now might as well go all out and install the aftermarket, multi-reflector headlights with matching crystal-clear corner markers (they come as a set).

So for all you lighting geezers, here you go! :flipoff2:

Pic 1: The lights and the markers in the box.

Pic 2: Saranwrapped(sp)

Pic 3: Top of it (it came with the chrome pieces to go on top/bottom of the light)
BTW, since I was/am planning on using them in the US-spec, post '95 80, I had ordered the lights for that year ('95 and later with different chrome accents).

Everything was put back in and I was happy, until I realized that the sockets used for the corner markers for the '94 and earlier and '95 and later models were different (not sure when the cut-off year/date is for the OEM, maybe '92 or so)

It was getting close to the time I had to go pick up my son, so I just went with non-functioning corner markers (I wouldn't need to use them during the day anyway). Actually, I was just going to leave it at that, but it was driving me nuts.:D

So...I thoguht I can make them work somehow, along with putting the same bulbs I used in the Euro headlights (to make it a fair test), instead of using the bulbs that were supplied with the new lights. Time to take them apart again!!

Pic 1: The supplied bulbs

Pic 2: Another angle (I thought they would be cheap, Asian-made bulbs, but they were actually German-made Phillips bulbs (55/60w H4 and 55w H1).

Pic 3: JDM, OEM clear corner marker (You can get them from Cdan: Notice the bottom part is black, instead of chrome because my rig is a '90)

Pic 1: Crystal-clear corner marker with the supplied clear bulb (single filament) in there.

Pic 2: Back of the bulb-holding socket thingy

Pic 3: Socket (Oval shape to match the '95 and newer or as I said, possibly as early as '92 and newer, socket)

Pic 1: I DID NOT BUY THESE BULBS. The PO had put them in there, I SWEAR!!!:flipoff2: Double-filament bulb used for the JDM OEM markers. They turn on as the marker/parking lights are turned on and become brighter when the turn signal is on, to shine the ground of the direction you are turning to.

Pic 2: The new single-filament bulb supplied with the aftermarket markers (Wimpy!)

Pic 3: So I carefully removed the socket assembly from the OEM markers and put them in the aftermarket ones to make the useful feature stay intact.

Changing the headlight bulbs were pretty straight forward, utilizing the same harness/sockets used for the Euro lights (H4 and H1). I heard, at least in Japan, all the gasoline models came with the H3/H1 inner sockets, but the diesel models depended on the year (Mine came with them).

Pic 1: Looking not as shaggy after getting a much needed wash!

Pic 2: Lights on!

Pic 3: Bring on the darkness! Or was I going to be in for a disappointment?

Pic 1: Ready to go! (Markers are on and they don't look blue;p )

Pic 2: The standard gate test (lows: The right side needed to be brought up a tad?)
I did not notice much "rise" from the light put out by the right headlight, unlike what you can see from the left light.

Pic 3: Highs (The left side a bit too high?)

So before I continue with something else, let me post the side-by-side comparison pics of all the lights I've tested so far:

Pic 3: Aftermarket high (tweaked them a little: but maybe still too high compared to the other two?)
