I think most of you may agree that the stock horn lacks sound. (My wife says it’s like flipping someone off with her pinky finger!):flipoff2:

So I went to a U-pull-it junk yard and got a duel horn off a late 80’s Cadillac Seville. (I can verify the exact year & model if anyone is interested.)
These horns bolted up very nicely in the stock locations and only had to drill two small 3/16 holes for the locking tab to engage.
The factory wiring was also used so no cutting/splicing.

I removed the grill (3 screws & two locking tabs)
The mounts on the new horns had a course threaded hole which I drilled out using a 3/8 drill bit, then de-burred the hole.
Then I unbolted the factory horn & lined up the hole and marked the spot for the locking tabs’ hole. I then centere-punched that location & drilled a 3/16 hole.
I bolted it in, hooked & it up. 30 Minutes.

I am very impressed on how little modification I ended up doing. Some horns I looked at needed to be cut or bent to fit. Not these!

I have a small mpg file on how it sounds, but this site wouldn’t support that format (AFAIK) unless someone can tell me how to do it.

Thanks,
Dean

Good idea and good post. You are correct...the stock LC horns sound like they belong on something a whole lot smaller...like a Corolla or something. Replaced mine with Fiamma's...although I like your idea better:)

That's cool.

Maybe they changed the horns on later years, but mine sound pretty good and non-Tercelesque.

I have an 80's Cadillac horns in my Datsun 510. They sound pretty good, especially from a small car!

FYI, the LX horns are a bit better then the LC horns.

You've got a 510? Sweet! My buddy in LA restored one a couple of years ago.

Fun as hell to drive and fast.

Yeah, I'm sure you don't see too many out there on the east coast. They've all rusted to nothing. They feel faster than they really are but that's what really counts--the fun of driving them. I have a '71 and a '72. I really need to get off my ass and finish my 510 project.
