Here are the pics of the 05 Camry nav system I installed into my '99. Still have some minor tweaking on the panel, and a scuff mark to get out, but i'll wait until the backup cam gets here, since it'll be coming back out anyway. It fits flush in the dash like it should, which was what I was going for.

here it is opened up- The camry/solara units are pretty much self contained, the older Toyota nav units required a separate dvd drive for the nav data. If there is a down side, it's that I lost the cassette player, but who listens to cassettes anyway...

Future add ins will be the XM module, and probably the viatech A/V interface, which basically lets it play and display whatever you want to connect to it.

I bought it for $1150 used, it was a few months old. I've seen them new on ebay for around 1600, I was told if bought from a Toy dealer they are way more, like 6K or so.

single disk, has a connector for the cd changer, I've read you can connect an ipod on that connector with an adapter, and yes it came with a GPS antenna, all I had to buy was a 20 pin late toyota connector to replace one that was from the old head unit.

Had to spice it in, which was a pain, the old connector is a 15 pin, which meant finding pinout diagrams to both units. spent a while on that part.....

looks good man. That's a fun new toy

I dont think so, I don't have the PKbrake lead grounded to test that yet, but will try when I put the B/U camera in next week.

I know some toy/lex models will play dvds with the pkbrake on, (safety feature), so we'll see....

Yeah, I can only imagine how much it will cost if my Nav unit ever goes out in my '01 100. It is factory and has everything in it including the climate control.

That is pretty sweet. You should do a write up and post it here. Or have woody add it to the tech section. What was the ballpark figure for the unit?

Bull,

I second this along with the other thread on the install. I like this setup and with the supercharger installed in our 99LX it will be a keeper. I might as well install the nav.

Looks really nice. It looks like it is factory.

Do you have any pics of what it looks like closed?
Or is it closed in the first picture your posted?

Right, closed on last pic, the display is motorized and kicks out on the bottom to expose the cd and dvd map slots

I'm not running the new one yet, heard it had some issues so I'm staying at 4.2 until I hear for sure that its worth it. 4.2 seems pretty accurate in my area anyway.

Just hooked up the backup camera today.....man everybody needs one of these, no more problems hitching a trailer !!

I used the new smaller Eclipse BEC-105, Eclipse is Fujitsu Ten's retail brand, basically a plug and play deal.

That is very nice looking. I was just about to get a single din CD after getting prices on NAV units but this looks real good.
There are several options out there for 2-DIN units like ours. The Keenwood DDX DVD and KNA-G510 NAV combo is around $1000 on ebay - $1600 in stores.
Great, thanks to your picture, I am tempted again.
