1994 $-runner w/ manual hubs ,swapped out the auto hubs :D
I just did a pass side wheel bearing.(pretty easy)
I am having a grinding noise from the pass side front axle
Thought it was the new bearing, however the grinding noise (only)
happens when the hubs are locked.
A friend of mine said something about some bushings that the
front cv axle goes through before the wheel bearing.
Has anyone had this problem?
Does anyone know if this sounds correct?
The runner has 220k miles on it so anything could be going out
Thanks in advance

Cv boots are in good shape.
I was going to tear into the front pass side today
However I thought that chopping the rear and bobbing
the rear was way more important and fun :D
My wife came out while I was sawzallin
Then asked what the f :censor: I was doing to the $-runner :flipoff2:
I just asked for another  and said NO WORRIES :D

got the same issue in my truck...stock suspension, ifs, only does it when hubs are locked, and intermittantly. cv boots are good.

is it the bushing? or could the cv be bad behind the boot?

Your friend was probobly dead on there is a pair of brass bushings that the axles slide through inside the spindle. To check if this is the problem just reach in there and grab the axle close to the hub and see if it has any play. If you can wigle the axle back and forth you probobly need new bushings.
good luck

uhhh yahhah id say brass bushings to these guys here...

easy way to do it is to unbolt the ball joints and pull the whole spindle asembly out, not hard at all

No offense, dude... but you need a new camera. Every picture I've ever seen you post has been horribly out of focus.

Wait... you must be using the camera in your phone? That would explain a lot. :D

Hey, no problem, at least yours works. My trusty Olympus finally died on me the other day. Time to upgrade to Nikon!
