OK, so I put this canopy on the side of the house to keep the LC covered up (oooohh.... my pooooor baaaabeeee...) away from rain and sun.
Now, unfortunately, my yard is kinda low point for the surrounding houses so I get all their rainwater. Also unfortunately, the ground has a layer of several inches of pure clay. Also also unfortunately, I still have my stock LTXs on.
So here we have the first rain of the Fall. It's pouring, I mean inches....
Didn't think about it, just head out for the canopy, fording through the mud. OK, after 20 yards or so, we ain't movin' no mo'. So I put on the CDL. Good, after another 20 yds we ain't movin' no mo. So I put on the rear locker. Another 20. Then the front locker. Fine, it's moving again. So I decide to go see on the other side how bad the flooding is. Seemed much drier. Well, not quite. Stuck, skidding, the whole enchilada. Get out of several spots by rocking. But can't quite get back out of the area cuz of a slope. Have a nice network of foot deep ruts around the yard by now. So I head for high ground. Leave the cruiser there. Kinda smack in the back of the house. But I figured I might as well leave it there so it doesn't sink any more. And I'll just have to wait till things dry out a bit cuz I ain't goin' out there in the rain.

So, it just goes to show you: Lockers only get you stuck farther out!!! (even if only in your yard!)

:D

At least you didn't pop a birf.........like Junk....:flipoff2:

Some new tires would solve that problem in a second!

Hey- at least you got to flex the lockers a bit, right?

This thread is useless without pictures :flipoff2:

How big is your yard that you have to tour it in a land cruiser? and why has it not rained since you had the land cruiser? I know SO-PRK is dry but around here we would call that a drought of biblical proportions

How do you grow grass and tree’s in that crap?

one thing that might get you aout is to let some of the pressure out of the tires, not sure how low you can go without popping a bead but I would think 18psi would be safe, just air back up before gettign on road

TALK TO ROGUE, HE CAN HELP INSTRUCT HOW TO BEST INSTALL A WINCH WHEN PROPERLY BUGGERED AND STUCK.

actually, that's an interesting point, the tires issue.

Let's say I am completely in slippery clay and the LTX are like slicks. Would a mud tire *really* make a difference or would they end up just as slick?

Not that big, but big enough to exercise the lockers once in a while...
I got the rig in March or April IIRC so no rain since then. That would not be surprising. But then I was keeping it on the asphalt then...

I don't grow grass, only weeds...

That is incredibly funny!

Since we are sharing stories...I was skiing last winter, and it dumped all day - heavy NW snow, probably 18+ inches deep. Was driving my 60. When time to go home, I put it into 4whl, and attempted to drive. Didn't go forward, due to the heavyness of the snow, but the tires were turning. I left it in gear, idling, and got out to look. A very amusing sight - the truck was just sitting there kind of bouncing around a bit, engine running, tires turning, going nowhere. The snow was still falling, I was driving, but not from the inside.

Yes, why do you think they call them mud tyres? Besides, with MT's you could point to the 2 ft deep ruts in your back yard.

reminds me of these guys who put their 4x4s in Lo, let them idle forward in the desert, and walk next to them for the exercise...
scary...
