(I also posted this in the Hardcore section since I hope to be active in both Forums. Sorry if this is a duplicate for anyone)

Hello, I just rejoined the wheelin' ranks after about a 10 year hiatus. I am also a reformed Jeep user.... I just purchased this 1969 FJ 40 and I've been looking for the right place on the web for FJ support. This looks to be the place. This FJ came out of the Oregon area and it looks like it has been built to it's present state for about 10 years. It is a little more radical than my previous (jeep) rides, but I'm really looking forward to putting it on the trail. Here are the details:

SM420 4Spd with 7.0 first gear
Toyo pickup transfer case with 4.7 gears
Toyo '85 front axle with 30 spline Bobby Longfields, armor, 4.10 gears, disc brakes, high steer, wheel spacers
Toyo '87 rear axle, 4.10 gears, RS9000 shocks, track bar
Spring over with wheelbase stretched
8274 Warn Winch with bumper
Rock sliders
Flat belly
Cage and Rock lights
38" x 12.5" TSL swampers

This thing appears like it will go about anywhere I point it.

Thanks for looking everyone and if anyone has seen this rig before, please let me know.

Take care,
Kevin

Welcome newbie and nice ride. That sm420 with the 4.7 tc should definately do the trick. You will like it much better than a jeep.

I like the color scheme , nice truck...you may need to put power steering on that thing with those tires....and welcome to MUD :flipoff2:

Kevin,
x2 on way to CLEAN.
Anyway NICE rig and welcome.

regards,
HelimanBD.

Stickers are way too clean...You must really h8mud.Nice rig though.

Thanks for the feedback guys! It does already have power steering which is great. The stickers are to clean, but it appears to have spent most of its life in the rocks. It has the scars to prove it....

Take care,
Kevin

Nice Cruiser! Did you get it shipped to you? Im pretty sure i saw it on the back of a truck couple weeks ago, looked really nice.

It has the original straight 6 that has been rebuilt. It runs great and has plenty of power with the gearing for the trail. I'm not sure I understand the interest in swapping to a SBC, unless the truck spends most of its life on the street. The SM420 is very driveable to me on the trail. Once again, on the street....downshifting can be a bit of a problem... ;)

Boulder Cruiser:
Yes, I had it shipped from Oregon about 2 weeks ago. This is funny as sh&t that you saw it on a truck! It does stand out in a crowd though... ;)

Take care, Kevin

Thanks! There actually is a decent amount of rash on the wheel edges, just no real dents or anything. I was also surprised that it did not have beadlocks considering how radical the rest of it is. The guy that I bought it from said he never needed them, so he never went to the expense. He was able to get pretty much everywhere he needed to without airing down to far.

I'd have to measure the wheelbase to be sure.

i remember seeing this thing on ebay. the guy posted it twice. finally found a sucke.... er a satified buyer.;p i snapped a couple photos off this guy for ideas. i liked the shock hoops. nice buy man...

yes, it was on and off ebay for a few months. I made the guy an offer back in early September, but we finally came together a few weeks ago. His auction closed several times with deadbeat buyers and he finally got tired of it and took my offer. It is tough buying something like this online, but the guy was really straight on it and it is exactly what I expected. I couldn't come close to replicating this thing for the price. Doesn't happen that way enough though! I was going to build another jeep, but I couldn't pass up the chance to learn something new.

Take care,
Kevin

Nice Rig! It sits very similar to mine How about a pic of the rear shock mounts and does it have a rear axle wrap bar.

Yes, it has rear end track bar. Here is a picture of rear shock mount and bar mount.
