Due to age, health issues, and family constraints I am finally going to have to let go of my 1973 FJ55 “Prissy” Wagon. It is a November 1973. I have had it for apprx 12 years. I bought it in Tallahassee, Fla, drove it to Tucson Ariz in 1994, drove it daily in the city and all thru the desert for about 2-3 years and then re-built the original engine. Drove it daily for another 2 years and then swapped out the engine in it for another, supposedly better engine. (It wasn’t!) Left it sit until 2 ½ years ago and then got a 2F engine out of a wrecked 1978 in Phoenix, Az. And dropped in it. (Also the seats from the wreck, front and rear) Did a bunch of body work, some small dash work, replaced the 3-speed tranny, and put a rebuilt transfer case in it plus a new clutch from “SOR”. Replaced the brakes all around with parts from “SOR”, replaced the original carb with an early 70”s Chevy 2 barrel carb, put in an extra battery, a new low torque starter, new after market outside rear view mirrors, a new front windshield and rubber, and then had a friend re-paint it. Drove it from Ariz to West Central Fla in November of 2004 (avg 55-60 MPH, avg 15-16 MPG) and have left it mostly in storage for the past two years. The middle of January 2007 I drove it to just west of Dallas, TX. and then straight back to Fla. (3 days and 3 nights) I averaged between 55-65 MPH speed and about 15-16 MPG. Not to bad for the old gal. There are some minor problems with the old gal right now but nothing terrible bad, probably less than a couple of hours of wiring work. (Left front turn signal doesn’t work right, front heater fan doesn’t work), After sitting up for most of the past 2 years the brake cylinders are freezing up. (Typical wagon! With original brakes) Friend that painted it was not a pro so the paint is not perfect but very acceptable, and there is some of the usual rusts spots that are starting to show up.
I don’t want to part with the old gal but the wife says it has to go. So it is going to go. I’m asking $3500.00 as is but I am willing to “dicker”. One big problem is where it’s. I live about 1-1 ½ hours North of Tampa, Fla. And around here no one even knows what a “Piggy” really is. E-mail me if interested and I’ll send pics and a number where we can talk.
