I'm restoring my 79 fj40 and want to keep it as stock as possible. It's got some rust in the quarters as well as the drivers floor pan.CCOT has all the sheet metal but I'm thinking It'll take a lot of skill and time. I can get a3/4 premium heritage tub from Proffitts in CO for a good price, They tell me it's how they do most of there restorations these days.I'm concerned about long term resale as well as durability. Any helpful hints or sggestion will be great.

Welcome.

Then the tub would be your best option.

Good luck!

No love for aqualu anymore? WTF?

Which Heritage tub do you guys like better the cheaper or more expensive?

I so knew that was coming.......

Love my Heritage 1/2 sure the 3/4 would be more of the same. If you weigh out cost of parts and labor and are within 1000 bucks I would just order the tub, you will make that back in quality and time saved.

Thanks

I'm greatful for the responses. I'm looking forward to making it a sweet cruiser again!

nothing against the aqualu tubs but the heritage tubs are better for somone who is looking for somthing to do a resto thats looks EXACTLY like the rig was stock (IMHO)....i would consider using the aqualu for a resto...unless i turn total purist

I agree with the consensus, the Heritage is the best way to go for a restoration project and is top quality next to the factory tub. I'll being going that route as will one of my friends with his restoration project. I would like to see the addition of a full tub.

Where would i get the heritage part? I have a fj40 1981 hardtop. I searched for heritage tub fj40 but cant find it...

As someone who has gone the route of CCOT panels on a '79... I can say the panels are fine but if you are
replacing a lot of metal (which you almost assuredly in the same boat as I was)..... GO WITH SOME FULL OR PARTIAL
TUB. The cost and time just really really adds up using panels. I mean its a no-brainer to me at this point
no matter your skill level or perceived extra time.

There is a tub for sale on eBay in New Mexico (not mine). Check it!
