I just bought a 79 with a 2f. It is missing an air cleaner. Not knowing much about engines (yet), I need advice on the type of carb I have and what air cleaner is needed.

You just need one for a 2f, there are plenty on the parts for sale forum, not many aftermarket options since the carb sets so close to the hood.

Well looking at the picture again, that may not be a stock carb.

There is a name on the front, lower portion of the carb. I couldn't see it well enough to discern the actual text. I will try again today.

pretty sure that's an aisan carb. i've got one like it but had to remove my air cleaner for a power steering conversion. it won't fit now. it's the old wet style cleaner. right now i'm looking for the stock cleaner that sits across the valve cover.

That looks like a 79 or newer stock Aisan carb, because it does NOT have the fuel return lines that the 75-78 models have. It DOES also have the diaphram in the top right hand corner on the front of the carb that is used to bump up the idle when the air conditioner is on. That, and the fact that the number stamped on the air horn are on the FRONT make it more likely to be a carb from a slightly newer year.

I've got PLENTY of air cleaners to fit that carb. If you're interested, you can call the shop to follow up.

Best
