Then that eliminates the case/housing completly, and you are on the right track with the linkage issue.

I do not have one of those, sorry bud.

Good luck!

prob with the AA (store bought) twin stick is they are only available for set ups where they use a long adapter. I just tried buying one for my SM420 to 3speed tcase, using the 1" adapter plate. They told me it would not work since theres not enough space between "actuator arm" and the shaft that comes out of the nose cone to use their kit. So, I am making one..
I can prob make you one too, but you would need to weld up the "actuator arm" so it meets up wtih your nose cone properly.

Move the pivot for the arms forward by drilling and tapping one hole in the AA supplied mounting plate.....has worked great for years on more than a few trucks using the 420 and plate adapter.

Good luck!

tranny xfer on the bench....... trial fitting linkages

yet to adjust anything

think gus's idea will work?

Is the bottom end of the lever hitting the side of the tranny case before it clicks into low? If so, then shortn the link rod. The threaded end of the rod goes tothe top cover arm. AFAIK, the arm (SOR part #45) is the same 3sp and 4sp. At least they look the same.

peesalot..........pm'd you

pin head- there is a different #45 for a 72/73. I have a complete set up from a 74+.
I am trying to get all the 72/73 pieces, and make some sort of hodgepodge from them both........

I'll begin with #3 gus's suggestions and work form there once I have all the parts

If you use all 4sp compnents it will work fine. No problem. If you try to mix and match you will need to modify or fabricate parts. But why bother? People give away linkage parts.

I am using all four speed parts with a 3 speed housing.....

To get everything to work, I had to do some simple fabrication work.....

grinded a few areas and drilled a new hole........

everything shifts nice now

I am using all four speed parts 12/74 (tranny and xfer internals and linkages) and the xfer housing from a 72 .....

only part from the 72 is the xfer case itself

I had to do a few more mods to make it work including:

grinding shift gate

bending shift gate

shifts PERFECT

I repainted all the pieces... and slapped it all together

put in a new xfer boot 1st
