So you go to jack up your pristine fj60 with a high lift.. do ya just stick the thing under that shiney bumper and have at it? Or, does the "bumper" attachment high lift sells fit a cruiser's bumper? Or, will the inner tube that I have wrapped around the jack angle protect enough?

I know by-the-way that it's no big deal to scratch up a 60..I just don't wanna...

shiney bumper????.....thats what it used to look like I suppose, replaced them along time ago with 4x4x1/4" wall square tubing to flatten down the odd tree that gets in the way. And so I can giggle my ass off when some dumb idiot rear ends me in there convertable MG....(happened a few months ago)...hehe

I took some pieces of 2" channel and bolted them under the frame rails at the rear, between the tow hook and the frame. I had to notch the rear bumper to accomodate the channel. This would allow the hilift to lift directly from the frame. I tried the same thing on the front, but the frame rails are closer together, and both front tires would lift off the ground (which I didn't want). I ended up taking a longer piece of 3" channel with notches at each end and bolted it undereath the stock front bumper to stiffen the bumper and provide a place to put the hilift. This seems to work OK, but I don't know if the channel I used is strong enough. My front bumper seems to be a little deflected after lifting the front with the hilift a couple of times.

I just stick mine under the bumper and go - the attachement they have is for curved bottom bumpers - which the 60 does not have.

Why worry about scratching the bottom of the bumper? Are you trying to compete in concours events?

Not trying to compete, Just a little over protective of the clean state of this rig.

Sick I know, but, trust me, If i'm out and need to lift it, sratch it I will.

Good idea with the Angle Iron and, I really hadn't thought about tweeking the bumper when I lift it.. Now I gotta worry about that too?

Yea, I know you're supposed to carry a high lift and I do. I've had that chunk of iron in the back for years but never actually needed to use it. Well, actually I used it at work the other day but that doesn't count since it wasn't out on the trail.

My stock bumpers are long gone so I gues I would just do what needs to be done on the trail. If you have to use it, put it close to the frame mount and hope for the best.

Used mine to pull out a bumper on the side kick

Backed into a low post with the sidekick, (tow vehicle and DD). Put the High Lift between the Zuk and the GMC 3/4 ton and strapped em together and jacked the bumper back out to "spec".

I carry around the jack, 15' chain, shackles, and 60' of low strech 3/4 inch halyard line. Ya never know I might roll it and need to set it up again" Yeah, and I want a winch too. Then the whole rig will look even better sitting there in the garage!
