gidday guys,

whats the difference between a 40 series steering box and a 55 series box?

is the mounting angle/bolt pattern the same? do they interchange ?

Externally identical and interchangeable. In the OEM PS boxes, IIRC the '55 box is a variable ratio and the '40 box is not.

That is wrong.

If they weren't interchangeable than I would have been unable to interchange them. ;) I have swapped them a couple times at least.

It's the mini-truck box that is almost the same but has a different mounting angle. That's why you have to swap in a different pedestal when you do a mini-truck PS conversion.
