brake drum rubbing problem

hey i got a problem with my rear aaxel in my 45. put in a detroit locker in it and now the drum is rubing somewere on the driver side only. the every thing is old exept the locker and i put a parts kit in the rear when i did. if you need to know any more let me know thanks

Chris, do you think that the locker pulled the axle shafts in further than they used to be? If it pulled the axle in even a little bit, past where the shoes normally rub on the drum, it may have pulled some 'fresh meat' from the drum into the shoe, causing the drag.

If you haven't buttoned everything up yet, try dropping the c-clip out and bumping the axle out about an eighth of an inch and see what happens.

Just a hunch.

thats what i think but i already machined the drum were the shoe would rub and were the drum would rub the backing plateand i have taked out as much material i can and it still rubs. and yes the diff is already all put back together . had this problem sence suday and i would on it for three datys and still cant get it to stop locking up. and its not just a drag as soon as you tighten the lug nuts even just two of them one on each side i wil lock up and a pribar would even move it. thanks for your input mark.

AHA! Lugnuts eh? Try this. Take off the brake shoes and try it again without the shoes.

Call it another hunch.;)
