Have you ever thought about what it would be like to narrow a set of 80 locking axles and put them under a 40? That's essentially what these are, but with leaf spring perches. Late model 70 series axles, with e-lockers. They are about 1-2" wider than the stock 40 axle width. 4.11 gear ratios.

Advantages over stock 40 series:
Bigger knuckle arms
Bigger tie rod ends
Bigger tie rod
Trussed axle with higher clearance at the bottom of the diff
High pinion diff (good for big lifts or spring over)
(if you are upgrading from front drums, then the disks are an obvious upgrade)
Lockers, complete with the magic dial just like the 80 series!
Full floater rear
Integral parking brake

If you simply bought ARB's and stuffed them in your smaller 40 axles, you would be about $2,300. I'm asking $2,800 for the full Toyota setup and you can sell your old axles.

The catch: The rear axle perches will need to be moved in about 1/2" either side to fit a 40. I did this twice on my own truck, it's easy. The tie rod end for the drag link is larger than a stock 40, so you will need to make a hybrid drag link. These lockers, and it's computer, are 24V. You can buy a 12 to 24V converter (very small current for these) for about $30. I suspect they will work on 12V if you don't use the computer and just hardwire the harness up, but I'm not going to test that.

I just unpacked these the other day, so I have not had a chance to clean them up for a photo.

Currently located in Denver, CO. I will ship on your dime. Package deals available if you buy the 1HZ and 5spd I have as well. Engine has not been tested yet though, so it's not posted until then.

quick photo

Front axle is upside down in this photo. The good part of that is that you can see this axle was never really off roaded. Off road parks are common in Japan, but this pair of axles is in good cosmetic shape. Some of the axles I have seen were deeply gouged on the bottoms from rock gardens.

The 24v motors will absolutely work with 12v. It will just take twice as long to lock, but it's like 2 seconds instead of 1 second.

You have to be very careful about the u-bolt to locker motor clearance in the rear when you narrow the perches. It will fit, but only with about 1/4" of clearance.

Great deal.

Hmmm.....garage with lots of parts in it. Axles, springs, arms, engine/tranny/tcase....makes me want to just go get one of those new frames and aluminum bodies and build an FJ43! Somebody buy these axles and spare my wife from being a garage widow.

Damn that would be nice under my 24v BJ44... Where is the cash fairy when I need her..

What if I deliver them to you? Would that swing the deal for you? ;) heh....I didn't realize you were 24V. I think you should swing over and check the parts lot. You may find other things you are interested in that I never listed for sale before I moved out here.

Bump. Still have these in my garage. There is someone that wants the rear, but I really don't want to split them up. If someone else wants the front, then you guys should chat. :)

There's an ad for it in the diesel section, or did you mean a photo? I recently dug up the entire yard (literally) so I have not had time to snap photos.

man I wish I had the cash for these for sure

Sale pending funds transfer.
