It did happen on pavement while slowly turning so i guess that's why. I take it that's a no no now.

I had my 1980 HJ45 in 4 low and locked the hubs. I then put it in 2 high to drive 300 ft to park it and as I was backing up one of the front locking hub rings made a popping noise and seemed to have snapped right off. Not sure why that happened. Anyway, I never unlocked the hubs so I assume it...

Any good threads with basic info ie what type of oil and coolant to use? Would like to change out all the basic fluids as a start.

Thx everyone. Starter just needed a bit more tapping and battery needed a bit more juice from another vehicle. Add on A/C and it's belts also looked a bit tight making it tough to turn over so loosened them a bit and seems ok now. Might try upgrading the 12v to 24v battery.
