Tire pressure in the sand: how low can you go?

After four days in the sand dunes, I finally lost a bead at 10 psi due to driver error. I was going side hill at full throttle when I slid sideways into a trough. I swapped the (undersized) spare and drove away. A blast of air from a compressor reset the bead and I was off. No big deal.

Tire pressure in the sand: how low can you go?

I ran 10 psi all weekend and it was awesome. Going back again this week for more fun.

Tire pressure in the sand: how low can you go?

Thanks everyone. Based on the discussion and my own experience, I'll try running at 10 psi in the dunes. If I blow a bead, I'll be sure to let you know :)

Seeking opinions on timing belt replacement.

There are a lot of threads on the subject. I can't find any evidence of anyone suffering engine damage from valve interference on a timing chain failure. One guy blew out his head gaskets, which could be expected.

I doubt he would cover non-work, but I usually weigh the odds on expensive service like this. Based on some of the other threads here, there seem to be very few breakages under 200,000 miles, especially in dry areas where there is less likelihood of water intrusion.

Tire pressure in the sand: how low can you go?

I just put some new 285/75/R16 Nitto Terra Grapplers on my Land Cruiser and I have a trip to the sand dunes planned. I was wondering how low of air pressure I can go in the dunes without breaking a bead. With my Jeep I usually go down to 6 PSI but that's probably too low for a Cruiser.

Seeking opinions on timing belt replacement.

My mechanic just told me that I don't need to do the timing belt on my '99 with 105,000 miles. He's a pretty meticulous Toyota guy so I don't know what to think.

Toyota 15 amp taillight converter auto circuit protection replacement

Thanks for the links. The box was already up in the taillight so I think the recall was already corrected. I ended up buying the Tow Ready wiring harness part 118365 because it's plug and play on the input end. I'll splice it into the existing trailer connector and let you know if it works.

Toyota 15 amp taillight converter auto circuit protection replacement

I had a short in my trailer that appears to have zapped some unreplaceable fuses in this sealed "Toyota 15 amp taillight converter auto circuit protection" box that I found inside the driver tail light of my 99 Land Cruiser. I bough this cheap Hopkins 48845 converter to replace it. Will this...
