    Vibrating noise in 4th/5th - 1989 HJ75

okay thanks for the reply, I'll check the prop shaft UJs tomorrow, anything in particular I should look for? Would any signs be present without having to pull anything apart? Loose pinion flange was a hypothesis for the whining sound I had in 4th and 5th. This is a new sound, that is quite...

    Vibrating noise in 4th/5th - 1989 HJ75

Hi, I have this vibrating noise in my HJ75 Troopy between 80-100 km/h (50-60 mph). It is not consistent - comes and goes, and varies in intensity. There is no noticeable difference in performance and handling. I recently used the old girl to tow a caravan 650 kms / 400 miles. It was on the...

    2H Radiator flush or rinse?

thanks mate, i got the thermostat off and flushed the whole system. The hoses seem fine but a bit brown and scaly inside, esp. the intake and outlet hoses from the radiator - any recommendations on how I could clean these? I noticed the thermostat has a whole drilled into the top. What's...

    2H Radiator flush or rinse?

The reason I'm flushing it is so I can put in new coolant with my new radiator. I don't know exactly what coolant was already in there and I've heard you shouldn't mix types. How true is this? Would residual coolant in the thermostat or water pump cause problems mixed with the new stuff I put...

    2H Radiator flush or rinse?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that but no difference. I think the problem might be that the pressure from hose is very low.

    2H Radiator flush or rinse?

Hi Duncanrm, I am trying to flush out my coolant with the radiator removed. I did the same as in your video but the coolant isn't flushing out from the lower pipe that was connected to the radiator. It is coming out of the engine drain plug. What gives? I can't why having the radiator...

    Misaligned Leaf Springs - HJ75 2H

Hey Team, I noticed today that the clamp on the front drivers side leaf spring is broken, so the top bar is misaligned. Just looking for opinions on urgent this is to repair? I suppose I should replace both front springs, but might try something a bit more ghetto like just tacking it up with...

Anyone know of shed space / garage / workshop for rent in Melbourne, Australia?

I've been googling trying to find something but to my surprise doesn't seem to be a business. I'm looking to do some rust treatment/paint work on my HJ75 but don't have access to a shed.

Advice on paint and surface rust repair, HJ75 Troopy 1989

I hadn't considered that. I think I'll start with some rust treatment and see how it goes

Advice on paint and surface rust repair, HJ75 Troopy 1989

Thanks for the advice. You are right that good paint will stand out. At this point I just want to slow the progress of decay. I figure I'll try to do larger sections that follow the contours of the panels to make it stand out less

Advice on paint and surface rust repair, HJ75 Troopy 1989

Hi everyone, looking for advice on fixing some paint and surface rust treatment. Not looking for a pro-job, I just want to stop the progress and get it looking okay at a glance. I gather the process is sand back, tape up, primer, then spray. I've heard people also treating before the primer...

    2H Engine Blow-by

Hi all, looking for some opinions about blow-by. I bought my 2H at 425,000 with a rebuilt engine. Now with 431,000 on the clock and I'm noticing blow-by. With the engine idling and the oil cap off I can see faint little puffs of smoke coming out. It's not crazy, the cap isn't flying off and...
