    New possibility with 3fe overheating

Thats good info, a few of those things ring a bell. From what that says it could be off ignition timing with a fuelling issue, I’ll do some research on addressing that. I’ll rent a smoke machine to see vacuum aswell.

    New possibility with 3fe overheating

I do have 15k oil in the fan but can for sure get 20-25k. I have a 4 core aluminum radiator, nothing was wrong with the factory one but as ive said ive fully replaced the cooling system trying to chase this issue. i didnt realise that requires upgraded alternator, that for sure makes it a bigger...

    New possibility with 3fe overheating

I do have a transmission cooler. I am aware the 3fe is extremely robust when it comes to temperature. I have had fan clutch issues and buried the needle in the red over a mountain pass trying to get home. I do have a trans temp light in my dash and its never come on before. I have been thinking...

    New possibility with 3fe overheating

For sure, the needle wont ever hit the red but it will steadily climb and almost get there if im idling in a hot climate, or driving on a dirt road slowly. AKA anything lower rpm. It doesnt dump out of the overflow but it will bubble and hiss after shutoff when overly hot. I havent got around to...

    New possibility with 3fe overheating

Yea man OEM parts, check engine light comes on from time to time but always goes away before i can get home and read it. Ive got upgraded thicker oil in the fan clutch and a solid seal. And yes to all other questions.

    New possibility with 3fe overheating

I have been pinging ideas off of chat gpt (i know i dont trust it) but due to the fact ive replaced every component of the cooling system and im still having issues. (you can read my other posts if you want, basically the truck overheats at low rpm crawling or around town stop and go. Usually...

    Cooling system cry for help

I think it’s possible my off the shelf fan clutch I bought was like you said opened at too high of a temp I figured thicker oil would just blanket solve the problem by being way stiffer. The ac issue I’ve been having is a head scratcher, the engagement clutch on the ac pump clacks on and off...

    Cooling system cry for help

Copy that, is there a good resource that shows how to adjust the fan clutch? That’s a little bit past my home mechanic knowledge.

Yeah I didn’t know that was a thing at all, I’ll look into it

    Cooling system cry for help

That’s my thinking too, how could it possibly be so hot. It’s only 155 hp! I do have a proper Asin clutch with thicker oil like I said. I have a good shroud with closed cell foam to seal it to the radiator. Factory fan aswell. I definitely could get a pressure test for the system so I’ll look...

    Cooling system cry for help

I don’t have exact numbers but at low revs around town the gauge will slowly climb above center to about 3/4 to the red. It’s got good compression in all cylinders and no consumption. No foam either.

    Cooling system cry for help

Hmmm interesting I had no idea about that, without adjusting that the fan clutch does feel much stiffer. I’ll look into it, thanks

    Cooling system cry for help

I’m a bit lost on what to do, my cooling system on my 1991 Toyota landcruiser just cannot keep up. I’ve done everything I can think of. 4 core aluminum radiator, thicker fan clutch oil, auxiliary electric fan, spacers to gap the hood away from the body, coolant flush, new water pump. Everything...

Solid pinion spacer on diff rebuild

Thanks for the input everyone, I did just end up sanding and filing the solid spacer down. For the front I used the old crush sleeve with shims (I know it’s frowned upon) but it’s what needed to happen with the timeline I’m on. For anyone using this forum in the future, as has been concluded by...
