Some photos of the prepped panels. You can peel just a little away, put the panel in position and clipped in and then remove the tape covering to secure it down, that worked pretty well.
I did, it wasn't to hard in the end but probably thanks to the lack of rust. I replaced just a few of the clips that had broken, spent a fair amount of time removing any remnants of the old tape and applied a lot of new 3M VHB tape...
I've done a couple of retrofits on LX470 headlights now and thoroughly recommend the full retro. It's a lot of work but well worth it. Most frustrating part is dealing with the sticky butyl sealant but the results are night and day even compared to just a HID/LED bulb. If you're going to open...
They're direct plug and play I believe, the polycarb ones have a few retaining screws for the lenses but the glass only have the clips, otherwise they seemed to be identical. I didn't swap the lenses over, I used the new lenses with the new housings.
Hi Tom, yeah I still have them and happy to ship although not sure of the cost. They're quite light but a little bulky. Drop me a DM and we can figure out the details.
Took the rest of the cladding off today and here are a few photos in case they're useful to anyone. No rust on this rig and they all came off relatively easily with some plastic pry tools. Now they're off to the bodyshop to be refinished :) Took me ages to remove all the double sided foam tape...
Thanks for this thread guys! I finally decided to bite the bullet and start taking off the cladding on my 06 LX in Silver as the paint has faded and I'm going to get them professionally refinished. To my surprise, so far things have gone pretty well - wasn't too hard to pry them off. Next up, I...
Yeah I think they have, and sprayed with clear coat by the looks of it. They're pretty good as they are compared to some of the lights I've seen on LXs
For sale is my 06 LX470's OEM steering wheel. It has the grey leather on it, although it has some wear. I ended up buying another steering wheel and sending it to Craft Customs to be re-wrapped (for $300)... This one is no longer needed.
The wood grain and lacquer is perfect so it could be a...
Hi guys,
I recently retrofitted my headlights and replaced the polycarbonate covers. I removed these old ones from the lights and they're in good condition. No rock impacts but not perfect. Could be perfect if you're looking to replace one or more of yours and you could polish them up before...
If you retrofit properly they should not. Before you seal up the lights you need to check the beam cut off height against a wall at 25' away. Beam should be 2" lower than the height of the projector, on mine around 34" on the wall and lower on the driver side.

These are the part numbers for the glass ones - I got both from Bell Lexus for my 06. They fit perfectly, exactly the same just glass lenses. Also applied PPF to the glass lenses just in case as part of my retrofit.
I just completed my HID retrofit using Lou's brackets, his Morimoto Mini H1 8.0 kit and a new set of OEM glass LX headlights and very happy with the results! Lou was very gracious with his time to coach me through the various steps and it is definitely a process with a learning curve but...
Oh yeah hadn't thought of that use case! Totally makes sense to delete in that case. I wish there were an easy way to just disable it through Techstream...
