It just replaced the engine. It started to overheat, then I burped the radiator and it seems fine. But after driving around for a bit, it started to smoke. It’s also throwing timing codes (P0016 and P0017). Any ideas?
I just got my new engine running (hell yeah), but the temp gauge doesn’t seem to work. It just stays on cold. Given that it’s a new install, I don’t want to just trust that it’s not overheating. But I can’t find the temp gauge sensor..
Tried that. The first time it actually changed things a bit… the electronics totally died and the engine started to make a gurgling sound. Now it’s back to how it was
I just finished installing a new engine in my gx460, but it won’t even begin to crank. I took the battery in to be charged, and the shop said it was solid. The starter is from the previous engine and I never had issues with it. Any ideas?
Yeah, just realized I’m a moron and didn’t remove the spark plug. I removed the chains in the position below after lining up the center portion…. Tomorrow I think I’ll put the chains back on and verify I have TDC compression after removing the spark plug.
I’m turning the crankshaft clockwise and the chains + cams move. But the pistons don’t seem to move… I’ve stuck a screwdriver in there and that didn’t move, and I attached balloons to gauge air pressure. Those didn’t move either.
How do I verify that it’s on TDC compression? I’ve watched a couple of videos on it, but the screwdriver method isn’t working. The pistons aren’t moving as I turn the crankshaft. Thanks
Hey guys - I bought a 2013 GX late last year, but didn’t realize it was a time bomb with a blown head gasket. I’m in the process of doing the replacement myself. However, I can’t get the timing marks to line up correctly. Is this a big deal considering I’ll be removing it anyways? I’m not sure...
