Just had my 74 F and 1/2 rebuilt at a local machine shop; magnafluxed, bored .20 over, ground crank, everything else installed new...took forever but cost $4k. I'm glad I did it; had massive blow-by and found a cylinder @ 37, others were @ 90. It is a mother***king beast now.

I went though some of this as I had a pretty strong smell after fill-up...ended up being a crappy gasket @ sending unit.

Ick, Rkymtnflyfisher, mine was sandblasted down to clean metal and, hopefully, it's rocks...rig should be done in a week or so. My 74 just had the F and Half motor completely rebuilt..everything except new crank, and it's glorious. I also put disc brakes up front.
