I went ahead and purchased a new Transfer Case from Lexus dealership for $2780. Paid $ 700 for labor installation. Don't forget the seal that goes in between TC and Transmission.

2003 Lexus GX470 weird noise

I am looking to get a Rebuild Kit for 2003 Lexus GX470. Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.

@SBANGLICO Thank you so much for this break down details, I am planning to take a vehicle to a different mechanic in next few days. Hopefully its not a transfer case and I can avoid the 2K expense.

Mechanic thinks its a TC but I am not 100% sure. We did visually checked the U Joints and there was no issue there. Also the shaft is 3 pieces similar to a folding umbrella (one about an 2" pipe and than 1.75" inside and another 1.5" at the end. He did told me its not the one that you can grease.

Here is an update, after removing the shaft vehicle had some issues with the airbag shocks which was making all the noises. I went ahead and replaced the rear airbag shocks and it stopped all the weird noises. At that time I also went ahead and replaced the gear oil in Transfer case and install...
