Finally an FJ40 Owner, New Project Big Blue

You are correct about the spring over, it looks like the front spring mounts were relocated and it seems that it was a project that was started and never finished. I do have a few sm465 trannys laying around so that may be an option. Do you know if there is any fab work or messaging that needs...

Finally an FJ40 Owner, New Project Big Blue

Haha, thanks, I've seen goldish FJ40 parked off Union with a bowtie on the front and then my wife's uncle has one that's pretty much stock and he lives down Union in Mesilla Park also.

Finally an FJ40 Owner, New Project Big Blue

Ok well since this is kinda also my build thread, I am gonna ask this here first. After messing with the cruiser a little, I need to find an axle solution. Currently the 14bolt rear and front dana axles under it just don't line up well and the front end would need to be rebuilt anyway. Also it...

Finally an FJ40 Owner, New Project Big Blue

Well hopefully its not too bad under the diamond plate. I couldn't find anymore than a little bit of surface rust on the rest of the vehicle and being here in NM we don't have much of a problem with moisture. The front axle is an 8 lug also so I am assuming its a D44. My main concern with the...

Finally an FJ40 Owner, New Project Big Blue

Ahh, thanks for the info on the top, I looked up some pictures now that I knew what to look for and nope, both of my tops are pre 76' Darn it, now you have me wanting something I didn't even know existed.

I agree, low end torque is what's best for wheeling, but the reason I was considering the possibility of another 327 was due to the fact that although it is a higher revving motor than a 350 or 383 it still puts out more torque on the bottom end than a 2F and I didn't want to go breaking parts...

How do you tell that it is a 75 top? I have another body with a top that came with all the parts, it may have the 79 top.

    Show off your Blue FJ40

It sure does. I can't figure out if its a joke or a sorry knock off. I tried finding any thing about Warnt, but came up empty handed, not even a comment that they were a fake.

Finally an FJ40 Owner, New Project Big Blue

I want it to be as capable as possible, but I won't necessarily be doing any hard core rock crawling or such. The original motor was in the parts I got, but I plan on sticking with chevy power since I have been building race cars for about 15 years and know them inside and out, not to mention I...

    Show off your Blue FJ40

Here's mine, just picked it up this weekend. I will get it off the trailer, get some decent tires under it and take some better pictures as soon as I get the title and get it vin inspected at the DMV.

Nice rig, pretty rare to find an unmolested specimen, especially in decent shape.

Finally an FJ40 Owner, New Project Big Blue

Well guys, I am new to the forum so to begin with I figured I would start an introduction/build thread. I have wanted an FJ40 since high school, but never seemed to find one until now. I picked up this one at a local farm equipment auction along with about 3 trailers full of additional parts...
