on SOR its part number 223-06-76? Its dated 1976 but my rig is 1975 but imported 1976? correct? What does this give me the part numbers? Iv put in a call for a 4 cyll BJ-40 motor in costa rica, with a fresh rebuild. I think its a 4cyll, might be a 6 and might end up a BJ-62 motor from 1980...

WTB: Smog parts for 75/76 FJ-40 "October 75" Let me know what you have, I know I can use piecemeal items from most years. There a few that wont work on this motor but "most" years will and I can check. thanks!

Im going there today, and the DMV Im in Redding Ca 96001 I have finds for a swap, id love to keep the factory motor or just go diesel.

well looks like iv hit bottom on this project. people say smog parts need to come with the motor and cant be swapped and all have to match? sounds bogus but I guess they know more then I do or have been to hell and back on this. So it makes me have to buy a complete FJ-40 motor with factory...

LAMBCRUSHER I read on SOR parts page many of the items are "1974 to 1978" on the parts. im calling them now and going to the DMV and the smog shop.

GA Architect i'm still pretty interested! And like I said they wont have any idea that its a year off they really dont. the "Shack" that smogs has a plywood waiting room and magazines from 1988. They will look to see if its installed but any gresey dirty old pipes and tubes and they will pass...

well whatca know, it looks like there was some glue in there now its paper thin and brittle. but some I put a stick right down inside. It does run but we had plan on removing the head, what a mess.

Well it runs as long as you dump a can of gas into the carb. the carb is dead. however it started right the hell up and stays started but then dies after 10 seconds, when the bowl runs dry.
