I had a set on my 3rd gen 4runner and liked them. That said, I only had them for a few thousand miles before selling the truck. Only complaint was that they picked up more small gravel then the original BFG AT.
If the rear diff light on the dash is blinking, it may not be fully engaged. I picked up a used 99 a few months back that had probably never been offroad and needed to do quite a few figure 8's in a gravel lot to get it to finally engage. Once it worked, the light stayed lit and it's been good...
Still won't budge. Can anyone think of a reason not to just hacksaw it apart so that I can access it with a regular socket? Part of the problem seems to be having to use an open wrench.
So I bought the parts to replace the vacuum regulator, but can not get the old one off. I've tried PB Blaster, really long 17mm wrench with pipe extension. Any ideas on how to get this unstuck?
Bump - Seems weird that the truck would run great with all of this disconnected. Just curious if it's ok to drive until I can get it fixed and what to look out for here...
They're plastic so should clean up fine with one of those polish kits. Just noticed that mine have a lot of condensation and a bit of water in them. Going to have to find the thread about sealing them...
Just did mine yesterday and they were pretty stuck from dust and stuff. They were hard to turn in the socket and hard to pull out once the tabs were lined up. Unplugging the connectors was the hardest part. Essentially, there are 3 tabs that need to be rotated in the socket to line up. Then you...
@ton504 I think you nailed it if this pic is indeed the vacuum regulator. One of those nipples is broken off completely and the other has no hose connected. Truck seems to run fine. What exactly would having both of those disconnected do? Rough idle?
Thanks for your help!
Went to change out my headlight bulbs today and found a small section of hose just laying next to the passenger side headlight by the bottom of the air box. It wasn't connected to anything. One end looks to have been cut, but the other looks untouched. I'm probably about the 3rd owner so who...
@arcteryx I had emailed you a while back and you didn't have the parts I was looking for. I have a 99 LC with Grey interior. Did you happen to get one with a good PS glass headlight or those 3 roof mount AC vents in the rear? I'm also looking for a good shape leather shift knob.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm not sure what the problem is/was but I just drove from Pagosa Springs to Austin and the light never came back on. I checked connections to the battery posts, fuses, and belts and everything seemed fine.
