Anyone know of a good mechanic in the South Bay area of Los Angeles? Engine/Trans - 1981 FJ40, hoping to save the drive to the San Fernando Valley if possible. Thanks,
Online site called "Parts Geek, LLC" - discontinued any purchases from CCOT due to price gouging. There are a number of sites, including SOR (Spectrum Off Road) that have the OEM equivalent hose.
As long as it seals, should be good to go. The surface of the slave is milled flat to accept the seal washer, so intended that the threaded portion be shorter than the port threading. Up to you to use. Just keep a 17mm wrench in the car :)
It is difficult to say whether the fan speed is precisely as spec'd by Toyota, but it seems to be perfect for me. I am missing my old Simpson, but a digital ohmmeter gave me about 1.3 and 1.5 ohms each, which I took to be close enough for govt work.
Russ, FYI in the future, used 7" and 8" nichrome wire, 24 ga, wrapped about 3/8" diam, soldered to posts on old blower resistor block and works like a charm! Thanks again for your help - John
Awesome! Really appreciate the extra help - I did not have much luck with the Toyota part No. but the ND part no. may give me some of the specs. I ordered the replacement resistor wire so I can make my own - maybe a future cottage industry . . .
