I will have to look for that and see if I can get a new one. Looks to be in good shape but was pretty loose before I "restored" it with a screwdriver and some gentle pressure. Would give me a bit more piece of mind to just replace it though. Thanks again for all the replies. You certainly...
That was easier than I would have thought. Started with the kick panel and inspected connections. Everything looked good doesn't appear that I am getting any moisture that has corroded anything. Attempt to start.... Nope! Remove and inspect ignition control module. Again, look great...
So this morning the 80 started fine and seemed to be ready to go to work. Until I put it in reverse and it promptly died and would not restart. Quick scan showed code 1300. FSM goes into great detail about stuff I don't understand with oscilloscopes that I don't own. Might as well be written...
Because I have too much skin on my knuckles I went ahead and bought the most reliable 4 door car to match my most reliable 4 wheel drive. Really I just like abuse and faded blue oil leaking vehicles make my neighbors happy.
Very good suggestion. I plan on taking the bottle off to double check the timing and will look into moving the plug at that point. Thanks for the idea.
If I didn't do that correctly it is Otram's video titled Checking valve clearance on a 1FZ-FE About the 7 min mark he takes a shim out. Hope that help and enjoy your beer.
Clockwise on US models. Counter clockwise on Australian models because they are on the opposite side of the world and gravity works backwards. Their toilets flush different as well. I think. I'm still confused from the fusible link debacle.
I had a jumper in place. In fact I forgot it there until this morning when I read your post before I left for work. I do have the windshield washer bottle relocated for a second battery so the port is somewhat hard to see but I'm pretty sure that I had it in the right two ports. What would it...
So I finally got around to setting the timing after the distributor (complete with cap and rotor), plugs and wires were replaced. Initially I set it by idol (650 rpm) at operating temperature with everything off. Was running fine but noticed that it smelled a little rich and when I filed up...
Thanks for the heads up. I will most likely not rebuild and just purchase a new blessed Toyota pump. But it is good to hear other folks on here say that they gladly beat their heads against the Land Cruiser wall trying to maintain these things like I have been doing. Misery loves company I guess.
I was joking about the FL. There is a thread going on now that has spiraled into the depths of internet forum hell over the fusible link. You should look it up. Great read for sure.
Ok I think taking your advice is my best bet at this point. Not sure about the HP line really. Looks covered in oil like the rest of them. Add that to the cart as well. It's only money and if we really liked it we wouldn't be driving these things for sure.
I would definitely consider something like that if the 80 wasn't my daily. But, whatever I take off on Saturday morning I have to put back by Sunday evening. Good info to have for anyone searching for something like that. Thanks for the reply.
Thats pretty much the way I am leaning. Just...
