It’s been sitting a few days waiting on me to get back to look at it.
I assumed calipers, I just want to make sure everything else is working as it should.
Caliper is off the rotor and it will not spin. Moves maybe an inch or so.
Caliper appears to be bad, one piston is sticking out 3 times further than the other ones and leaking fluid.
Gear is in High Range.
Center Diff is off.
Caliper seemed fine. Had him press the brakes a few times and it was working.
Didn’t hear it dragging on the rotor. Rotor nor pads are ate up.
Do not know about low range. I’ll have Togo look.
92 fj80 3fe no drivetrain upgrades that i know of.
Front passenger tire locked up on my son on the way home from school.
When i pulled the tire off , removed the caliper the tire would not free spin when off the ground.
Started the truck, placed in neutral and the tire started spinning. Placed...
New distributor seems to do well.
While in park the RPM’s stay around 1000.
While in drive and at idle the drop to around 700.
I do not remember this happening before the new distributor. Does this sound typical?
I used a flat blade screw to adjust the oil pump just a bit and it slipped into place like it should.
I was about to adjust the truck to TDC and was reading the manual when I saw the section about adjusting the oil pump slot.
It’s purring like a kitten now.
I did that, but it will not seat all the way. There is about an 1/8” from seating fully. For it to set fully down on the base, it’s off by 1 plug I bet.
A new Oring did the trick. I had to find several different ones to try though.
For my distributor to be fully seated, the rotor moved 1 plug.
Can I adjust that out? Or do
I need to move the truck to TDC to get it correct now?
The distributer is so rusted and burned it wont spark anymore.
This is the oring that came on the distributer. I'll go to NAPA tomorrow and see if i can get a new one.
So i bought a distributer from Cruiser Corps. I marked and removed my old distributer. (i did not set to TDC) Aligned my new distributer the same and it wont seat. I greased the O ring bc that's where it seems to be hanging up, but ive pushed hard to seat so something else must be an issue...
Well, i did 2 items. I decreased the timing a bit, and I changed some vacuum hosing on a vcv.
The truck ran better, started easier, but still has an issue. But it was a good difference between now and what it was.
There are probably too many unknowns to get the truck to run great.
