thanks to you and OSS too, the valve stem seals are probably shot too. I will get on that right away. Wish I could do it without removing the head, but maybe it could use a valve job too.
thanks
Actually that makes a lot of sense but I would not have thought of that. The oil of yesterday was crap and I am pretty sure this engine had many owners and some who did not do regular maintenance. Funny thing to remember but my late father was a stickler for regular maintenance and especially...
I will try to make this as brief as possible. My son bought an 84 FJ60 with a 2F de-smoged engine, no cat and 212000 miles. The car sat in a repair shop for almost 3 years. We got everything back in order and got it on the road BUT it was smoking blue after it sits at a light and also noticed...
There are a good number of threads on this subject. I have an 88 FJ62 that my son wanted to convert to an H55 but he found a great deal on an 84 FJ60 and we swapped the 4 speed for the H55. For the 62, he found all the used parts I think from cruiseryard.net The bell housing is a bit...
Good point, I forgot about the Pinion bearing. My 88 62 had about 240K miles when I bought it and the pinion bearing was shot. Vibrated like crazy when I backed off the accel on the freeway. Had to get the diff rebuilt. NOTE, after my diff rebuild, I had an axle seal leak that ruined my back...
I am thinking about that. I have everything to do it except the H55. I have the 4 speed.. We actually were about to do this before my son found his 84 FJ60 so he took his new H55 and put it in his 84.
Wow, we are really close. Peter Merriam is a great mechanic. I do a lot myself too but have used Peter on many things.
Where did you find a tank? I was looking for one. My sons 84 FJ60 sat for a good while before he bought it and it had a good bit of rust . Had it boiled out by Sims...
Hi again. Wanted to get a better understanding of this transmission and if it need a rebuild or maybe better cleaning. 247K miles. The transmission (since I bought it 2 years ago) has a slip between 2nd and 3rd. I changed the filter and cleaned the pan about 10K miles ago.
ISSUES:
slips...
Wow, what a great story! I am jealous. I would love to see how this goes. What part of Ga are you in? I am in John's Creek Ga. There are some really good cruiser mechanics here. Let me know if I can be of help. The cruiser looks really good.
Great point Kleatus, so many variables have been added to the mix, trial and error tweaking. I like the break pressure formula by Cruiserdrew also. No doubt, I want to keep the LSPV because it was put there for a purpose. THANK
