I have a true mash-up, "mid-80's" diesel-powered 60-series... It started out life as a 1986 Canadian-spec HJ60 (24v electrics... yay?!). Up there, at some point, it got a 12HT transplant (from a 1987 JDM HJ61) done by the previous owner. I bought it in 2006, and have since replaced the rotted out frame with one from a 1985 FJ60, and replaced the rotted out body with an 1983 FJ60... hence the "mid-80's" designation, as it's literally a 1983/1985/1986/1987 HJ60.
Along the way, I replaced the H55 it had (from the JDM front-clip?) with a brand-new H55, and put in an ARB rear-locker. It also has an OME 2.5" lift, with heavy rear springs, and rides on 33" BFG KO2's. Spent all the money on all the non-pretty stuff, so the paint job and some interior refinishing has had to wait. But it runs great, is nearly unstoppable with the rear locker, but still safely and comfortably hits 75 on the highway.
(Oh, and the turbo-diesel runs on bio-diesel (soy-juice), and I've gotten up to 26 mpg on the highway, and regularly get 20-22 in mixed driving.)
