If it must be petrol what about the 1FZ? Up to 240 ponies in the later models. But as John said don't get hooked up on power. Personally I think a modern diesel is a much better platform but all depends on what you want from your vehicle. If you want stupid power just put a 2JZ in it 😄

What's your budget? What do you want from the vehicle? Have a look at either a 1HD-FTE. Smack on 200hp and one of the best diesel swaps you could do. Or the 1KD-FTV with an easy 230hp on a simple ECU tune. This being my first choice.
