From the beginning I'd like to apologize for the long typing. When I start I can't stop... I guess that's why most people just tune me out.... :D

For me a Land Cruiser is an amazing thing, It was always a treat to ride in my dad's '88 FJ62. I had been looking for a 4x4. Something that I could just go in the field, and check out my property. Well I wasn't going to spend a lot of money. and lucked out. I got my dad interested in getting one. We were looking into a J##p. It was 12,500 and for that kind of money, we could fix up the ol' TLC really nice, and make her lookin' good again.

Well a while back, I remembered seeing this Land Cruiser on CraigsList, but I was way on the other side of Houston, way over there, and a bunch of money, way too much for me.
Well, me and dad were talking and I mentioned it, and he said that he wanted to see it. I searched craigslist for a while, never could find it. Then I stumbled upon it one day. Sent a link to Dad, and he said to give the guy a call and see if they still had it. So the next day I gave him a call, and sure enough, it was still for sale. We talked for a good 20 minutes, and I was impressed. It sounded amazing.

So this past Saturday, 4-23-11, we drove to the other side of Houston, TX, and picked her up.

The ride back was fun to say the least. Wind + TLC2 = WAHHHH wooooo WAHHHHH wooooo. She couldn't decide if she wanted over drive or 4th. Plus the fact I tried to keep it around 65 probably didn't help make the matters better...
She drove the 270 odd miles back home, making around 9 miles to the gallon.

We did a test on the way back, Dad drove home the Tahoe (A.K.A "Hoe") and I drove the TLC. We figured that when the TLC drove 115.6 miles, the "Hoe" drove 100. So the ratio was 1:1.15. For those of you who are nautical people. That's one Knot. So the speedometer reads Knots, not MPH...

Yesterday and Today, I cleaned her inside and out. polished all the chrome, "Black Steel"ed the tires, and scrubbed and pressure washed the whole thing.
At the moment, she's shinning as much as she can. Inside and out. I cleaned as much as I could. I put some vinyl shiner on here, and she's shinning.

She has had a transmission/transfer case overhaul, front knuckles rebuilt, complete rear end rebuild with new ring and pinion and new brakes front and rear and new water pump on it a few months ago (not rebuilt). The odometer has just turned over 200K, but the fuel injected 3FE engine has been well taken care of.

All in all I’m very pleased with the new addition to the TLC history of the Romero Family. She needs a little TLC (no not Toyota Land Cruiser, Tender Love and Cair)

Well as 1:1's go, I'd say Dad's Stock one.

As Battery Life compared to Tank of Gas, RC.

As fun goes, Both.. :D

Thanks
Cody

Very nice 62! Welcome to the sickness!

What ya mean, "Street Queen" To me that's something that turns everbody's heads, and makes 1 out of 10 people unintentionatly change lanes while passing you...

If that's not your definetion, then I'd love to know, Because mine is Defenetly a Street Queen.

Now Show queen is a different story, If it's a beauty contest, in my eye's. 1st. If it's a 4x4 Contest, 1st. If it's a lack of peeling paint, then I've got to take the hood off...

Thanks
Cody

It's got front and rear LockRight Lockers, Warn Locking Hubs, spring over axle lift, heavy duty high mount steering, Rancho shocks, 33/12.50/15 Pro-comp Xterrains with spare, roof rack with lights, Highlift jack etc... Runs like a top, Cold AC, hot heater and no rust!
