1971 FJ55 “The Beast”
This truck has been dubbed “The Beast” for the simple fact that it is a monstrosity of a vehicle. Since I've been out of the military I've been able to put some time and money into this Rig. This will no longer be the case when I start paramedic school in January which is new development. Sadly this Pig will sit for at least two years with no money to put into it and little to no time to rip up some trails. So I might be taking offers on it. :meh:

I obviously know I can't get what I put into it but I'd rather hold on to it than let it go for silly cheap. Anybody have an idea what I could ask for it? Good news is that it just passed emissions and had complete brake change out for its awesome disc brakes. It is getting a brand new windshield and hood this week. -->The suspension shop working on it made a little mistake and forgot to latch down the hood before a test drive.:bang: So the entire hood was creased in half. Thanks to another IH8mud member, I have a nice hood to install. Also a set of 4 Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip tires(same size as below) and unused 60” hi lift Jack will be thrown in with the Pig if the wife and I decide to sell or trade for more of a daily driver. *Again, if and might were the key words used on this posting*

The Beast is a baaaaaaaaad mofo:steer:

Build thread

I decided that this will also be my build thread.:D

Inkpot and I worked on getting the electric fan to work, re-routed the wire to come on with ignition instead of the temp senor kicking it on.

Spent about three hours changing out the circuit panel, cleaned up & re greased window regulator, adjusted "adjuster rods" to get tailgate to click in.:steer:

Now the window refuses to go up. Until next time.... After that its on to replacing hood & hinges, installing tach & getting a tranny guy to repair the turbo 350.

Some new sound

Sold back some school books today so I got some extra cash to work on the sound system a little bit. Although I loathe Walmart, they had a killer deal on Sony Xplode deck,2x6.5's, & 2x (6x9)'s for 90 bucks. So i decided to replace all the crappy wiring and speakers the PO did. I'm not a big fan on working with wires so I decided to drink to make it more enjoyable.

3M safety Tape

3M makes a safety tape that is used for outdoor steps- like porches or for something so you don't slip. Well, people were complaining that their feet were slipping on the nerf bars so I put on a little addition. You can only see if you're up and close. Overall it doesn't look bad and is quite functional.

whatcha carry in the ammo boxes up front?

Whats in the ammo boxes?

In the left box is chains, tow straps and other misc stuff. The Right ammo box holds all my tools, but I took them out because I don't want anyone to steal them.

The plan: I'm going to weld a mount that will hold my hi lift jack so it lays across the top of the cans. With this the cans will not be able to be opened without taking off the jack (which will be under lock and key)

Fixed some stuff

Well, after numerous hours were put in to seeing what the deal was with my back window, Inkpot and I discovered that it was the fuse! Anyway, it forced me to get in there and re grease the motor and replace the circuit panel so it wasnt a waste, learned a lot too. Also got some felt strips from Wally World and it made the tailgate tighter. All in all good day cause now my rear window is working again.
