New owner 1971 Pig construction begins here

Hello everyone I wanted to post up here the new pig that is being hauled to me from Tucson tomorrow. I posted the shippers info in the Mudship section as well. Here are some pictures I intend on doing a build thread also. The previous owner has had this beaut for almost 18years.

First things first. Oil pump and front breaks need to be replaced to get her back to the condition of running. It's already got a 2F that was swapped a few years ago and this 2F seems to have blown the Oil pump. The engine still cranks over so that's a helpful sign. I should have it running again in a few weeks work depending. I knew if I kept looking I would find something good. This was a "give me an offer" Pig on Craigslist. Pig$750+Shipping= I'll have the =s later today. lol

Update

Well the tow bar was a hassle to mount so the pig will be running a little late. The shipper is going to wait till Tuesday morning to roll out with it but I couldn't help the excitement. The original owner snapped a few pictures of the install of the tow bar and the piggy rolling out of his driveway so I decided to post them to show my excitement.

Well today is the day to get the garage cleared out. The pig is more important then all the junk that I've collected over the years. :) Should only take a few more hours then I can rest and wait for the piggy.

LOL.You're as excited as a kid going to Disney Land.:D

I still get that feeling when I have a new Cruiser coming home.

Congats on your new rig.

hey Oldfj40 Thanks yeah I'm pretty excited I'm sure that the nervousness will subside a little once my shipper is in Texas. That's the biggest thing that has me all excited and a little stressed. I hope the shipper is as good as it sounds. I can't wait to get my build up thread started. Though it won't be a everyday thing it will be long term as I learn new things and I'll have alot of away time to come up with new ideas.

The pig is safely in the garage it got here at about 5:30pm and the driver and I had a beer. Ahhhhh Now to start tearing down the motor and figuring out what the deal is.

although I have been a member for a while

I noticed the other day that even though I've been a member for a while I just recently purchased my first LC and really started posting instead of reading. And that's when I realized I never got my Official Mud Salute. So I guess I'll send one out to everyone else.

:D

The way you just dove into lower end, I didn't figger you to be a Noob.

Welcome!

Pighead, This may be my first LC but not my first engine. I took a 88 ford ranger and pulled the 2.0 out and took a boss mustang 5.0 and smooshed it in after a full rebuild. However I will have some pictures coming very soon of the mains and the rod bearing because I'm baffled.

Looks like a great project Pig!

Lil'john, Initailly the plan was to drive it as a DD and work on the body and everything else and maybe at some point get an engine and rebuild it and switch motors. But now the tides have turned and I'm going to tear this motor down and rebuild it right so I don't have to worry about it for another 200k miles. At least I'll know it's done right.

Oh guys I tell you what I have found more finger tight bolts in and around this engine and surrounding IMPORTANT components that really scare me to know that the PO supposedly drove this thing.

Freaking SCARY............................................................................................
