Whats the going rate your paying for nozzle rebuilds ?
I was having a chat with a gent on this board , he said he was charged 200 per unit for 3B nozzles.

IDI nozzels are not too expensive. There is no cost benefit to having a shop spend time trying to clean them over getting them replaced. If you have your own tester then get the nozzles, washers and shims and do them yourself. You can either buy a tester or make your own. There's a thread here for building a ubrew tester. My last set of 6 was done by a friend outside of Ottawa for under $120 in parts. He built his first tester and then ordered one from overseas. He since has ordered me the same a tester.

The tips for a 3B injector only cost from $13 to $20 here in the states. Washers/shims are not very expensive either. What you are paying for is the pop testing of the reassembled injector. You might be able to find a hungry diesel shop right now that can test them once they are rebuilt for a reasonble price.

Didn't have to use a homebrew tester to rebuild mine as I work in a diesel boatyard and we have the tester. Took less than an hour to rebuild mine.

Poor mans rebuild would be to just replace the tips and use the same shims sometimes the shims are just fine and don't need to be changed adjusted anyway. Pop testing with the original shims showed mine needed no adjustment. But do replace the copper that seals the injector to the head.

$200 for all four = steal of a deal.
4 @ $200 ea. = $800 = way overpriced.

a fella could probably get an entire ip rebuild for a bit more money if he shopped around.

OEM toyota tips are nippondenso which are no different than bosch. even from toyota they are only about $60 or so, a smart shop should be able to get them for a lot less. $140 to test /calibrate one injector sounds outlandish.

last injectors i had done were mitsubishi, $79 each + core. that was 10 years ago, so nowadays it's probably more like $99 each + core.

I had mine done at a local diesel shop, for my 2H.
Service exchange injectors, with new nozzles.

64 * 6 = 384
labour 130
Total $514 AUD in 2009. (about the same as USD)

Thanks gents .
We had a discussion on pricing .

I said way over , @ 200. each.

So Tony / Kynot62 if the tips for a 3B injector only cost from $13 to $20 here in the states, where are you getting these from ? Pm me is just fine, and the Washington company can also purchase these.

I was thinking of just getting the replacement nozzle tips , and doing my own up. I have a Bosch pop unit , that i haven't used since 1985 or so. Needs dusting off & the lap setter.

Shields ,seals and washers also would be nice , but yota also have theses available.

Not that Im trying to price fix Mr K , or prove a point , but there is a normal price.

I got my nozzles directly from ND through a friends diesel shop. You will need the tester, a micrometer, lap board w/ very very fine paste and a variety of shims to adjust the pressure. For me to do all four, I spent about 2.5 hours from beginning to end. It really isnt too tough if you have all the pieces that you need. Nozzles were $25/ each directly from ND. You will need the 4 small brass washers and 4 larger ones also.

And you should also replace the top aluminum seal washers for the return lines.
This is where I have found one starting stumble intermittently .

I do have those tools , plus a few BFH's just to keep the micros in line

Sort of hi-jack but:
What are the nippon denso og Bosch part numbers for the tips? can't seem to find them anywhere?

This is the number off the tips in my 3B injectors (Nippondenso) ND-DN4SD24ND80. Its a common part as it's used in more than just our 3B's, also used in Westerbeke generators. Don't know if they are the same for a 2H or not. Got my old ones laying around somewhere but can't find them right now to make sure I got the number right.

VTCDN Sorry to not get back to you sooner. I bought mine at work, don't know what they sell them for over the counter but we stock them. I work at North Harbor Diesel and Yacht in Anacortes. Call them to check price 293-5551. Northland Diesel Service in Bellingham might be worth a call as well

In 2007 had my 13-BT done by a local shop here in the States.

Rebuilt $380 for all four

2 Bees...

what shop? I'm in SF Bay Area and could use a 13BT injector rebuild.

Anyone have the part number(s) for 13BT nozzles?
