i am installing a pre turbo thermocouple on a 12ht. where is the best place to install it? there is vane at the center of the entry point to the turbo, i am thinking of placing the thermocouple on the rear side of the vane, the thinking is, that is the hotter side of the manifold. what do you think? :bang:

thanks

I would hope the exit temperature across all your 6 cylinders is roughly equal. It's a bit annoying having that vane down the middle, but i think if you plumb the thermocouple in either side it will be ok. As long as it's close to the entry of the turbo's turbine wheel should be good. The probe on my 1HD-FT is currently post turbo, so drilling and tapping the exhaust manifold is on my "to do list"! I'm very aware of my post-turbo EGT readings now, after driving with that configuration for the last 12 months, but i too would much rather see my pre-turbo temps.
