I would love to take a trip expo style but needs to be close enough and not too long. How many days would this take?

Plan on one day each side for travel to and from, not really a full day but close enough. Then for the trail I've read it can be done in 2 to 2 1/2 days with options for leaving the trail early. So I would say anywhere from 3 to 5 days or more depending on how much exploring one wanted to do.

Really thinking about this, but don't really have the gear for it (3 season tent, heavier sleeping bags for the kids).

So you're looking at 4-5 days. Which weekend would you use - the leading or trailing one?

I have blocked out the week at work so I'm flexible, we'll need to be due to weather. That time of year a bad storm could impact the schedule or cancel the trip all together. Will make the decision based on the forecasts near the leading weekend.

Would love to but cant get that many days off. I do have that Friday - sunday off if you go somewhere closer.

Too bad you can't make it. We do something like this at least once a year. This is not a bad time of year to visit the desert. Wouldn't mind doing the Mojave trail or Death Valley again. Maybe we can discuss a longer expo type trip for the trail calendar next year. Get your HAM radio liscenses, you'll be amzaed at the difference and it's not that hard. Had to get the plug in :D

We are a go for this weekend :steer: Weather looks good, except for getting there Saturday.

Trip was cancelled. My son has been sick, stomach thing. We have been postponing hoping he would get well enough for a road trip but he hasn't. Truck and trailer have been packed since Saturday morning.

Well, maybe over spring break ...

Damn, that's to bad. Hope he's feeling better soon. It's going around - I know a few people who've been sick this past weekend.
