Anyone intersted in an early September Cruiser-Q in Glenwood Springs? I live in GWS and have already talked to a couple other Roaring Fork Valley folks about it and its getting some steam. Nothing too crazy first time around, maybe some wheeling on the local trails and then a BBQ at Veltus park in Glenwood.
I have talked with a couple folks and it seems like the latter part of September would be ideal.
Say, Saturday September 25th. Meet at noon at the base of the tram in Glenwood. Head up for a ride on Transfer trail, and then back into town for some BBQ. I am trying to figure out a place large enough for everyone to park and also has a BBQ pit. since this would be the 1st year, and conjoured up while day dreaming we'd make things pretty informal the first go round. BYOB & BYOF, etc...
How far up Transfer do you want to go? If we leave at noon we can have a short afternoon run, say to Haypress lake and back. If we meet earlier some might be interested in taking Transfer all the way to Coffee Pot and come down in Dotsero. Or, the other direction towards Adams Lake and then come out in Newcastle, which has some challenging sections. With the 25th being a Saturday, some who are traveling here may be interested in one of the latter trail options and make it an overnighter.

Good point. If folks come in from out of town I imagine a longer ride/loop would be in order. I will rely on other's experiences on this one as I have only down parts of the xfer trail and never linked the entire thing. I will send some local doods an email to get their take on it. Ideally I would like to do a ride that is do'able for most folks and if we get more interest for subsequent Cruiser-Q's than we can make "difficult" or "easy" routes.

p.s. as far as places to stay. send me a PM or call and we can discuss. There are tons of options around Glenwood
Are you looking for a place to camp or a hotel? If your looking for a spot to camp, pm me and I'll give you some directions for a few really cool spots close to town. All of which are dispersed camping, no bathrooms, not a campground..just drive out in the woods kinda spots.
Okay, here's a crude map(my computer skills are sub-par).
So, The Red indicates Transfer Trail, nothing too hard, more of a trail ride. The Blue at the top is an optional loop that is rough from what I hear. I have not run it before, but would like to. The Blue at the bottom is also an option, a couple of switchbacks, kinda rocky..no big deal. If we leave at say 10:00 and you choose to do the optional loop we will still be back in time for the BBQ. That is if all goes well, i.e. breakdowns and such.
I will pick up paper plates, plasticware, basic condoments, napkins, and bring plenty of grilling utensils. The grills at Veltus are friggin' huge so plenty of people can cook at once.
Bring some meat for the grill and a side to share.
Grill will be ready at 4-4:15'ish.
This will be a lot of fun!!!! If you are traveling in from a far and looking for a camping spot send either alpendubber or myself a PM.
