Price UPDATE 10-20-13 80 series sliders group buy

I found a fabricator local to me in OC, he's located on the 55&baker, I had a chance to speak with him earlier regarding the 80 series sliders, he quoted me $350 for a raw set, powder coating available for ~$150. I brought up the idea of a possible group buy, I think that may have jingled his bells a bit. I understand there was a thread a month ago regarding sliders but never materialize and OP didn't provide any updates, hopefully he's ok and decided to cancel his project.
So here is the thread to his CL ad, you guys can contact him yourselves and ask as many questions as you need to. If it's going to be all 80's TLC, we can get the prices down bc it's less work for him. He also fab tube and armor bumpers/swing arms and all the good stuff, tube bumper ~$600-800, ARB style was ball park ~$1100++
If you are interested, let's see if we can work together and save some money. I'm thinking just give him a pic of what we want and have him make it for everyone. If you want something more customized, I guess you will have to pay for the difference on your own. I hope this work out better than the last attempt, at least I have a price figure and some sample pics for you guys to see that it's not all in the clouds.
I'm also down to fab my own if someone already have the know hows, I planned on doing but I can't find any time for myself with a monster baby.
I can provide a plasma cutter, welder and other basic tools if you guys are willing to help out with the consumables.
The absolute easiest way to make one is to find someone with sliders willing to let me take them off to copy/measure them, after all the measurements is done, i can have these things made pretty quickly. I'm willing to rent your sliders for awhile :D

PRICE UPDATE: 10-20-2013
Price for DOM tubing with Cat armor and bolt on plates = $400 OTD Powder coated $425
That's a pretty sweet deal to me guys, if we can get 5 orders or more it will be $375 and I haven't even negotiate yet.

I was also following the other thread. I too was waiting on particulars and pricing. Is this guy is supplying all the brackets for mounting, hardware, skid plate, proper gussets on the baskets, DOM or mild steel?? I ask because we have an 80/LX slider we designed. I have the proto type on my wife's LX. When built correctly, the price on these add up quickly. After laser cutting, hardware, material, labor etc... They're pushing almost $600 for a set DOM sliders with Grade 8 hardware, mounting plates (not cheesy U bolts),..etc...etc. Didn't mean to Hi-Jack your thread. I will be starting my own now that the skid plate is back from laser. Can they be made for less?? Yes, but you start cutting corners on material, craftsmanship and design. IRC..you have drop brackets. I'd love to hook up and get some measurements so we can offer them for that crowd. Also need some 92-94 guys for measurements. I shouldn't have sold my other year LC's..lol.

Hope we can help the cause. We WILL NOT, make cheapies to save a buck and jeopardize the integrity of this part.... or the truck. These are built like a brick sh*t house, as they all should be!

Thank you,
Brian

Brian you can borrow my 80 for measurements. 94 with a TJM 2.5 lift, 315s and drop brackets. I'm not far from you and in Hemet often since that's where my in-laws live. Pm if you want to arrange something.

This guy can make sliders using DOM for an additional $100, his sliders are welded onto the chassis, but I requested a quote for bolt on brackets with #8 hardware and cat con protection. Seems like he's still coming up with some numbers. So far, we are looking at $450 for DOM sliders welded onto your car, I will update prices for cat converter protection and bolt on brackets. Then I will negotiate prices.

Diesel 80, I got your pm, no worries about your post. My goal is to get everyone quality sliders at a more reasonable price, there isn't anything in it for me so if you can beat his price then everyone will be happy :) I wish I have time to fab my own but that's not possible for long while, I was hoping I can make my own for around $200 material and about a day of measuring and 4-5 hours of cutting and welding.

I'm not wanting to start a flame war... I just see these group buys that never happen or see a product pic of what I'm getting into...

Probably because this hasn't reached group buy level yet and the sliders are still in the design phase.

Weld on to the frame is cheaper, but I don't think that's a very good idea.
His design is pretty standard and straight forward, it will do its' job.

This is sort of what I had in mind

I saw this on Pirate4x4, kind of like it so I might go with something like this.

I'm trying to rally up some interest so we can have a group buy, so far no one has said they want or need sliders. If you are serious about buying a pair then state your intentions clearly so I can get a number for the fabricator, I'm hoping we can get at least 5 pairs in so I can drive the prices down. Still trying to get a quote on my end for bolt on brackets and cat converter armor using DOM tubes.
